Cutting the Ties That Bind is a speculative project exploring the emotional and physiological impact of identity-based trauma within the LGBTQIA+ community. Born from the question, “What if identity-related psychological trauma could trigger an autoimmune rejection?”, the project reimagines a fictional disease as a metaphor for the deep scars left by societal and parental rejection—particularly after coming out.
